Slime Mold Hanky

Slime Mold Hanky

$20.00

This Slime Mold Hanky is screen printed by hand from original paper cutting art, and features a an intricate and repeating design of several species of slime molds as seen under an SEM microscope. This piece was originally created as a part of the incredible Queer Ecology Hanky Project.

The hanky, printed from a single large, lace-like paper cutting, celebrates this small member of the living community who can join in clusters to collectively work to make complex decisions and movements that each individual eukaryote cannot make alone. Their work and food is created by their participation in decomposition of plant matter. Slime molds are incredibly cool and strange, and I chose to uplift them as beautiful metaphors for what we are capable of when we work with and for community, and to honor the nourishing work of taking apart what has been to create what will next be.

The hankies are approximately 22”x22,” and are printed on 100% cotton bandanas made it the US in two color ways: rose gold ink on black hanky, and a sunset blend on natural hanky.

Each hanky is made by hand, and so each one is unique and may have small variances from the prints pictured.
